My flight leaves in a couple of hours and I'm very excited!! I haven't been to the West Coast in probably 5 or 6 years and I've never been to San Fran.
I'm going with my 4 best girlfriends from college. We all met freshman year--we were on the Dolphin Hall at Creswell. Casie lived on one side of me, Jen and Caroline lived on the other and Stacy was 2 doors down. We stayed friends and sometimes roommates for the rest of college. Jen and I were complete opposites living together sophomore year--she loved Radiohead and color schemes that involved grey and brown. I had 2 Justin Timberlake posters by my bed and my closet looked as if a rainbow exploded out of it. But Jen and I agreed about bedtime music (we both were into listening to music when falling asleep). I love her forever for having that record player and introducing me to Miles Davis Shades of Blue. Stacy and Caroline and I lived, along with my best friend from high school Donovan, in a huge rambling farmhouse on the wrong side of Athens senior year. 148 Vine Street--a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a huge front porch and back porch and I had the smallest room and it was about 14x14. We paid $250 each a month for rent. It was kind of awesome and the stories from that house could fill a book. (think small airport paperback)
After college we all went our separate ways and due to our various locations it's been hard to all get together. But in just a few hours I will see everyone in California and it's going to be awesome. And....I'm NOT taking my computer. This is a big step for me because I always feel that when I leave my computer at home when I go away something will happen to it. I'm trying to get past that so I'm tearing myself away from technology for the rest of the week. Okay I am never getting rid of my blackberry and I will still be twittering but....no computer. I am making a conscious choice to not have an option to charge my iPod. BIG STEP FOR ME.
Is it weird that I miss New York already and I haven't even left yet? Also big news--I have never traveled so far by myself!! I've always been with family or friends on any flight that's over 2 hours long. I get VERY nervous about flying but I'm going to try and be brave.
