Brandy and Steven,

I haven't found the division between left and right to be all that true. I think the real question is, do you trust individuals to think for themselves and make the right decisions based on free will, or do you believe the "masses" are stupid and that an elite group should make decisions on our behalf.

I agree, abortion is a personal choice, I don't want the government, or any religious or cultural organization making decisions about what I can or can not do with my body.

For that matter, I don't want the government forcefully taking my money and spending it on wars I don't believe in, or on programs that are ineffective and could be much better implemented by private companies or charities.

Honestly Steven, the my biggest reason for writing this post was because I'm really upset about the way the fringe right wing views abortion. From what I have seen and read the tea party and the religious right are coming together in a very frightening way. Church and state should be separate and if a 13 yr old is raped by her uncle, she shouldn't be forced to carry the baby to term

My open letter was focused on the social rather than economic issues and I'm definitely taking a look at the links you sent because I want to be informed. But I can't sit back and accept candidates who say they are doing what's best for human life when it's so clear they could give a shit about a poor kid who's raped in the backwoods of Mississippi except to tell her she has to keep the baby.

I don't care how great the economic policies they are proposing are. If the abortion thing is in there, I'm never on board.

Hi Brandy,
I respect the passion in this post, but I disagree with some of your assertions. As a laissez-faire capitalist and tea party supporter, I think I fit into the category of fringe right winger. You've brought up many issues which I'd love to discuss, but I'll try to stay focused and take on only 1 or 2 at a time.

Do we have a solution to the economic downturn? Yes. The government programs such as Tarp, Stimulus, and the "Jobs Bill", are eating up economic resources that would power the economy, and they are distorting the market. Our solution is to phase out these and other programs, and halt the creation of similar programs. In short, the solution is to move to a freer market.

There is ample evidence that government interference in the economy has created the current economic crisis. I think you may find this in-depth post on it enlightening:

Furthermore, such intervention in the economy was also the root of the Great Depression. We have ignored these facts, we have ignored the fate of other countries under statist policies, and instead have followed emotional arguments for "social justice", etc, which have caused us to repeat the mistakes of the past.

You should check out a Tea Party rally next time there's one in NY - you'll see that the speakers and the crowd are rallying around fiscal sanity - they are advocating a move towards laissez faire capitalism. You'll also see that this far right movement has little to do with racism.

And on that note, I have shown you a brief summary of what we on the far right want. It has nothing to do with racism. We don't want any statists in office - no matter their skin color. Therefore I ask you to back up your claim that:
"all you want is for there to not be a black president in office"

Also, do you not realize that the other main targets of the far right - Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank - are all white?

Something to think about.

I eagerly await your reply and hope you'll investigate the link I posted. I've been waiting for years for the masses on the right to get really excited about Laissez-faire - thanks to Tarp and Stimulus, now they are - but in an attempt to squash it, the statists are smearing the movement as racist. It's very frustrating, terrifying in it's effectiveness, and insulting.
